It's heated to very high temperatures, then suddenly submerged in cold water. The shock of sudden cooling causes a network of tiny fractures to propagate through the Quartz.

Angel Aura Quartz, also known as Angel Rainbow, Angel Opal or Angel Lite Quartz, are clear quartz crystals that have been thinly coated with precious metals, titanium in this case, to give them a metallic sheen.
