Description
A 1950s collar necklace by Matisse, the enamel line of Renoir of California, made of graduated copper bars fired in deep red enamel. The bars fan out from a copper box-link chain like the rays of a setting sun, longest at the center and tapering toward the clasp. The enamel has a soft, mottled depth, and the warm copper chain frames it like a thin line of light. A bold, sculptural piece of mid-century design that sits flat at the collarbone.
